How to Keep Your Haircut Looking Fresh Between Visits

25 March 2026

You've just walked out of Golden Barbers with a fresh cut. It looks perfect. But how do you keep it looking that good for the next two or three weeks?

Here are our top tips for maintaining your haircut between visits to the shop on Bingley Road.

Wash Your Hair the Right Way

You don't need to wash your hair every day — in fact, washing too often strips the natural oils that keep your hair healthy and manageable.

  • Wash every 2-3 days with a quality shampoo
  • Use lukewarm water, not hot — hot water dries out your scalp
  • Always use conditioner if your hair is longer on top

Use the Right Products

The product you use makes a massive difference. Here's a quick guide:

  • Matte clay — Best for textured, natural-looking styles with medium hold
  • Pomade — Great for slicked-back looks and quiffs, gives a shine
  • Sea salt spray — Perfect for adding volume and texture to longer styles
  • Wax — Good all-rounder with flexible hold

Ask us at the shop and we'll recommend the right product for your style.

Keep Your Neckline Tidy

The neckline is the first thing that starts looking messy after a haircut. If you have clippers at home, you can carefully clean up the very bottom of your neckline to extend the life of your cut.

Be careful though — only trim the very edges. Leave the fade to your barber.

Style It Daily

Spend two minutes each morning styling your hair properly. Towel dry after a shower, apply a small amount of product, and work it through with your fingers.

The difference between a good haircut and a great one is often just how you style it each day.

Book Regular Appointments

The best way to always look sharp? Regular visits. Most of our clients at Golden Barbers Saltaire come in every 2-3 weeks for a trim.

With our loyalty programme, your 10th visit is completely free — so it pays to keep it consistent.
